-If this was just a review for nurse Shelby, it would get 5 stars (or more if I could) she is absolutely amazing! Some people just have a gift and are truly meant for this job and that is her 1000% so so kind, gentle, caring, goes above and beyond, I cannot say enough good things about her!
-For the most part, all of the nurses and midwives were pretty good. A few of them should definitely let the lactation ladies do their job instead of aggressively grabbing and smashing your boobs!
-The lactation nurses are amazing, I definitely recommend going to them and like the day after you leave the hospital! They helped with not just breastfeeding but really everything!
-Although the bed and the support person couch for sleeping are not comfortable, I think the room was good! Spacious and I liked the dimming lights!
Cons:
-The food is horrible.
-As soon as I was admitted, they were trying to push misoprostol on me right away. They told me there was risk of infection if my baby didn’t come 18 hours after my water breaking. I ended up taking the pill 16.5 hours after my water breaking and I never heard anything from them again about “risk of infection” and didn’t have my baby until 20.5 hours AFTER taking the pill so was infection not a problem anymore because I did what you wanted??
-Our bathroom light had a motion sensor with a 10 second timer so the lights would literally go off after 10 seconds if it didn’t detect movement!
-I think everybody already knows and expects this… but the amount of times that you and baby are checked on is insane and very annoying. All the hearing tests and weighing and BS are all pushed on you it seems as soon as your baby is comfortable and sleeping then they wake them up! I turned people away multiple times but they are really persistent. Also the volunteers with gifts is nice and all but it is so overwhelming constantly having people just popping into your room.
-Getting discharged is the most frustrating process “no problem, you just have to see your doctor, the pediatrician, the lactation specialist, etc. etc.” I told them before going to bed that I wanted to be out right after our morning feeding at 7am… we didn’t get discharged until noon!
Although my review will most likely not cause the birthing center to make any changes, I hope that it helps people prepare for what to expect here.
